SM-20

North American T-6 Harvard

Supermarine Spitfire LF.IX SM-20 (Former RAF PL224) after a miraculous emergency landing at Saffraanberg on 1 September 1952. Following a mid-air collision between SM-30, SM-24 and SM-20 the pilot of this aircraft wanted to use his parachute but got stuck halfway out of the machine's cockpit. Standing with one leg on the wing, he steered the crippled aircraft to a field to make a successful belly landing.
