Gloster Meteor F.8 EG-171/SV-G of N° 4 Squadron - 1st Wing had to make a belly landing on the beach at Sylt (D.) on 23 June 1956 when the target towing flag cable hit the aircraft when a bullet cut it. The Meteor had to be abandoned on the beach.
