At Beauvechain Air Base, the first H145M, RL-04, was officially unveiled to the press. In the presence of Minister of Defence Theo Francken, Chief of Defence Air Force General Frederik Vansina, and Commander of the Air Force Major General Bruno Beeckmans, a further step was taken in the broad transformation of the armed forces.
The aircraft can be deployed for medical evacuations, tactical air transport, observation and reconnaissance missions, support for the Special Forces, and rescue operations.
According to Theo Francken, this helicopter will strengthen the capabilities of the entire armed forces. From the Baltic States to Central Africa, it will significantly enhance the mobility, security, and firepower of our military personnel.
The expansion of the fleet will continue in the coming months. By 2027, a total of twenty H145M helicopters will be delivered: fifteen for Defence and five for the Federal Police. Chief of Defence Vansina further indicated that with the H145M, Belgium is investing in a modern armed force that is ready for the challenges of the future and assumes its responsibilities within NATO and Europe.
