De Havilland DH.80 Puss Moth

Single engine two seat observation and liaison aircraft

 

 

In November 1940 the Belgian Colonial Authorities in Belgian Congo requisitioned a single De Havilland DH.80 Puss Moth which was property of Pierre Micha be used by the Openbare Macht/Force Publique as communications aircraft during the East African campaign at the Sudanese/Egyptian border. Based at Watsa (North-Eastern Congo) together with De Havilland DH.85 Leopard Moth C-1 and the also requisitioned Caudron Pelican OO-ATF "Bolikoko" of Dr. De Beve, the aircraft made many liaison flights in and around Sudan. The aircraft was cancelled on August 6th, 1945 as having being destroyed in an accident.
