Adj. Willy Coppens pictured in 1917 at de Moeren airfield in front of one of the first of eight different Hanriot HD-1 fighters he used in combat. Early Hanriots are distinguishable by the offset position of the single 7.7 mm. calibre Vickers machine gun. All Belgian Hanriots were later modified by the Calais-Beaumarais depot to have their gun re-positioned centrally.
