Nieuport 81 EC.2

Nieuport Ni 81

The Nieuport 81 was the second in a series of two-seat trainers based on earlier Nieuport designs.

It appears to be closely based on the Nieuport 12, although its wing area was one square meter larger.

The aircraft had two separate cockpits with dual controls and was powered by an 80 hp Le Rhône engine, which may explain the odd `80' series designation.

Only a handful Nieuport 81's served wit the Aviation Militaire as trainers at the Juvisy-sur-Orge school and later at Asch.
