General Dynamics (Lockheed-Martin) F-16B(M) Fighting Falcon Single-engine two-seat combat/trainer aircraft On 5 May 1977 the Belgian Government signed an initial contract for 116 General Dynamics (Lockheed) F-16 fighters. This number included 20 F-16B fully combat capable twin seater trainers. A second F-16 order for 44 additional aircraft signed in February 1983 also included a further four B models. The twin seaters are mainly used by the Operational Conversion Unit (OCU) based at Kleine Brogel, but all the other combat units are using F-16B's on regular basis. As with the single seaters, all active B models have been upgraded to the latest MLU standards, thus becoming F-16BM's. Of the initial 24 twin-seaters 15 remain in service and all are MLU upgraded. |
