Hawker Siddeley HS.748-2A Twin turbo-prop short range passenger- and cargo-aircraft.
After a long search for a suitable replacement for the
Douglas C-47B Dakota the Belgian government decided on April 8th, 1974 to
acquire three Hawker Siddeley HS748s. The HS.748-2A was equipped with a
large cargo door on the left hand side and could be transformed from cargo
to passenger configuration in a minimum of time. In 2002 the HS.748 was
withdrawn from use when the Embraer replacement aircraft arrived. Two
airworthy HS.748 transports were donated to government of Benin while the
third aircraft was also transferred to serve as a spare-parts resource. |
