Brewster B-339 Buffalo

In order to replace the obsolete Fairey Foxes, the Belgian Government belatedly ordered 40 Brewster B-339 Buffalo fighters in the USA in February 1940, but only three reached the French port of Bordeaux. Another six were on their way aboard the French carrier Béarn, but they didn't get further than the French Caribbian island of Martinique. Of the three machines at Bordeaux-Mérignac airfield two were assembled and most probably at least one was taken to Germany for evaluation purposes, as the picture of this Belgian Brewster Buffalo below has been taken at Darmstadt during the war.
