Uitkerke

The German airfield of Uitkerke was constructed in early 1917 and was situated along the "Brugse Baan" at the Meiboom part of Uitkerke. Units stationed here (Kustabteilung III and IV and Schutzabteilung I and II) were mostly occupied with reconnaissance of the coastal line. On 6 October 1918 the last units left Uitkerke airfield. The two white buildings visible at each along the main road are bunkers still in existence today.
