Cliffhanging Jumbo

Kalitta Air Boeing 747-209F N704CK (c/n 22299, msn 462) crashed during take-off from runway 20 of Brussels/Zaventem airport on 25 May 2008 at 13:30 local time in good weather conditions. For a yet unknown cause, the aircraft left the runway to the right and came to a halt just past the runway’s threshold only meters away from a 10 metres deep railway bed. It broke in three parts, but no fire erupted. The crew of five escaped without injuries via the escape slide of the starboard upper deck doorway. The freighter was en route to Bahrein International Airport and carried 76 tonnes of cargo.
